Sugar cookies (see recipe below)
Fondant (any color)
Glossy Icing (see below)
Mini cookie cutters (optional)
Fondant roller or rolling pin
#3 decorating tip or snip the end of the bag
1 cup (2 sticks) butter (salted, or unsalted)
1/4 teaspoon salt (if using unsalted butter)
1 Cup granualted sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract (optional)
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (best quality available)
3 Cups all-purpose flour
In mixer, cream butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk, and whole egg and beat well. Add extracts.
Add flour, one cup at a time. Mix well but do not over beat.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and cool in refrigerator for 2 – 3 hours. Roll out on floured board, 1/4 inch thick and cut using cookie cutters. Put on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes until slightly golden brown.
Decorate when cooled.

2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
