I think it is crazy that Starbucks charges two dollars for a melon ball size cake pop!!! I made 30 cake balls JUST like Starbucks for $7 dollars (that’s .23 cents each). So let me show you how to create delicious cake balls that are quick and simple.
You will Need:
Devil’s Food Cake Mix (you can use any flavor cake mix) – need 3 eggs, oil and water.
Tub of frosting (I bought chocolate fudge)
One bag of Wilton white candy melts Click Here
How to Make:
Follow the directions on the cake mix box with the eggs, oil and water. Pour into a cake pan and bake at suggested times and degrees according to the box. Once out of the oven, let cool. Crumble the cake into a bowl. Add one-half of the frosting into the crumbles and mix well. If too dry, add more frosting.
Refrigerate the cake/frosting dough in the refrigerator for thirty minutes. Once cool and firm, form the cake into one inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet that can fit into your refrigerator or freezer. I used my freezer as I was running late to a dinner party.
Melt candy melts in microwave safe bowl for one minute. Take out and stir. Melt again until 2/3 melted. Then stir until all the candy is melted. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to thin out the candy melts.
Poke a cookie stick in the candy melts. Dip the cake ball into the candy melts making sure the entire ball is covered. Spin the stick to get the excess candy melts off. Sprinkle on the edible sprinkles. Place on a pretty tray. You can refrigerate before putting on your dessert table. You can also individually srap with clear bags for a wonderful gift. These cake balls will last at least a week if refrigerated. Enjoy!!
