Come enter the enchanted land of far, far, away. Our magical theme invites your preschool children to enjoy learning while being a princess and pirate. The children had a great time pretending they were living in a castle or riding on a pirate ship to capture treasure. Below are creative learning activities that made the week full of fun and fantasy. We also learned about the letter Pp with making a shape pizza and practice writing letter Pp.
For our activity table we used castle blocks with princess figurines for the children to build and interact with other children. The boys and the girls interacted well together in playing princess together.
Pirate Ship Shape Craft
Our Pirate Ship craft was a great activity using shapes to build their vessel. Using yellow circles for the gold, brown oval for the main part of the boat, blue rectangles for the poles and black squares for the masts. Supplies below show the needed shapes to build the pirate ship. The brown oval shape is folded to make the bottom of the ship. When you lift the folded shape the children glued the yellow circles to represent gold coins.
Cut the shape pieces prior to class time.
Princess Castle Shape Craft
The girls made these beautiful shape castles. Using pinks, and purple construction paper the girls build a princess castle using glue. Light pink square and triangles, purple rectangle and square, darker pink for triangle flags and hearts. I made the hearts with heart punch.
Princess Tiara and Pirate Hats
Boys made Pirate hats using black foam sheets. Using stickers the boys made their own pirate hats. I cut out mini bone shapes for the boys to make cross bones. The boys glued the cross bones on their hats.
Magic Wands and Pirate Telescopes
The girls created magic wands by decorating with stickers. I bought foam hearts, wooden sticks, stickers and pink & purple mesh.
I made pirate telescopes for the boys. Using black cardstock and black tape, I created fun telescopes for the boys to pretend they were searching for other pirate ships.
Making Shape Pizzas for the Letter Pp
With our focus theme of Princesses and Pirates, we also learned the letter Pp. It was a perfect combination of learning for the kids. To emphasize the letter Pp the children made a pizza. We did this in two ways: One was making a pizza crust and sauce with paper plate and red crayons, along with colored shapes. Red circles for pepperoni, yellow squares for pineapple, white rectangles for cheese, green triangles for green pepper and black ovals for olives. The other pizza we made using a large red P and using the same shapes to decorate. The children had fun making their favorite pizza.
