I love taking on a challenge with a cake I have never made before. My friends daughter, Jaclynn really, really, really wanted a Shopkin’s cake with her favorite character Kooky Cookie. I knew there would be about 30-40 people, so I instantly thought of a two-tier cake. I looked at some examples on the internet, and then drew a mock-up of what it would look like. Honestly, I do think the brown is too dark, but once I laid on the fondant, there was no turning back. Everything is fondant except for the Shopkin’s trinkets my friend gave me to put on the cake. The candles were fun to make using cookie sticks. The letter J I found in the wood section of Hobby Lobby (love that store!)
Jaclynn loved it – that’s what it is all about! She had a Shopkin’s theme party with swimming, games, crafts and lots of laughs.
As a cake decorator we know our work will be destroyed – I mean indulged. To see hours and hours of work going down the tube (throat) is tough to swallow, but we do it as a labor of sweet love!
